Constructed in 1905, this beautiful church was
home to Afton's First Presbyterian Church. The congregation
was founded in a home in 1857 and built their first structure
in 1869 with a total construction cost of $35.00. As the congregation
grew, their need for a larger building was evident. The new
church was constructed at the corner of Dodge St. and Kansas
St. and served as the home for First Presbyterian Church for
decades. It later became the meeting place for Afton Bible Church
until 2000. The building has been empty for several years, during
which time it has sustained considerable damage. Much of the
stained glass and original woodwork has been removed and will
need to be replaced as we restore this historic church. Additionally,
the steeple will be rebuilt to its original shape and structure.
KLM International intends to restore not just
the building, but also the vision for a strong local church
that reaches Afton and the surrounding towns and rural community.
